My bills are paid and I'm saving for retirement. Why would I consider a money coach?

  • Because you’re sick of monthly payments sucking all the fun out of payday.

  • Because “I’ve been at my career a while, and it’s OK, but I’d love to ____________.” You name it: Escape the rat race and retire early? Take a voluntary step down at work to have more time with the kids before they’re grown? Switch careers? Have a parent stay at home?

  • Because typical budgeting is a chore. Either you don’t want to do it, or you do track your spending but it doesn’t make any difference.

  • Because you have no idea where you stand overall financially, and those online retirement calculators are depressing and useless.

  • Because of that nagging thought, “if I lost my job tomorrow…..”

  • Because you work really hard, and want every cent you earn to fuel a well-oiled machine aimed directly at priorities of your own choosing.

Are you just going to tell me to cut my cable and stop eating out?

No! We all make choices with our money, and I don't judge. That said, you might say you’ve always wanted to go to Europe but could never find the money, so to make that happen - you choose to cancel cable the next day. Or, you really love watching movies and you decide you're going to take the money you mindlessly spend at Starbucks and instead upgrade to the fattest cable package with every channel known to mankind. Money management is not about deprivation - quite the opposite! A financial coach helps you define these priorities and make the most of your hard-earned income. There are so many options besides the obvious!

How are you different from a financial planner or advisor?

Financial advisors help clients manage their wealth by choosing appropriate investments based on their goals and risk tolerance. Financial coaches help clients BUILD wealth so they’ll need an advisor to help manage it all!

How can I afford to pay you when I don't have enough money?

I understand it is a leap of faith to spend additional resources when you already feel like you're drowning, but think of it as buying a much needed life preserver. Getting your finances under control for good will greatly reduce stress from your life in the short term, and can completely change your future in the long term. It's an investment in yourself that will more than pay itself back for many years to come. Where will you be financially in 5 years *without* a coach?

I don't live near you. Can you work with me?

Definitely! I meet with the majority of my clients using Google Meet. If you prefer an in-person meeting, please feel free to ask.

I’m concerned about security. Do you require personally identifiable information (PII) such as bank account or social security numbers?

No. I ask for bank and credit card balances to create a clear financial picture, but will never access any of your accounts or have any need for a social security number.

How does your coaching program work exactly?

To allow time to nail down your financial life once and for all, I require a minimum commitment of 90 days. During this time, we establish a clear picture of your finances, set your priorities, develop new habits, and track progress. We meet weekly for the first month, and biweekly thereafter. I welcome anyone considering this commitment to book a free strategy session first to discuss your situation and answer any other questions you may have before committing.
